What We Offer
The coastline, with its soft dunes and nostalgic shipwrecks, as well
as the 30 000 hectare game farm can be explored in the luxury of your
own 4x4 vehicle, as part of two seperate, guided tours. The mine tour
offers you the opportunity to discover the world of diamonds and includes
a visit to the largest breeding colony (estimated size between 400 000
and 500 000) of Cape Fur Seals on the coast of Southern Africa. Follow
the Trapsuutjies Hiking Trial through the small Molyneux Nature Reserve,
which is home to 132 species of indigenous plants, or take the 4km Boulder
Heritage Route for a glimpse into the past.
A visit to the Museum, which was established in 1985, offers exhibits depicting the history of Namaqualand Mines, shipwrecks, geological, paleontological and archaeological finds as well as a heritage display.
Soon to be introduced Diamond Coast Hiking Trail that comprises an exciting four-day package and incorporates a portaged, guided hike through 48km of varied scenery, habitat and terrain.
Accommodation
A variety of accommodation facilities is available, from self-catering
divers' cottages and camping facilities on the coast to farm style hospitality.
Because of the high security mining zone, visits can only be made by
prior arrangement. This region, which forms part of the arid succulent
Karoo biome, has mild days, but nights can be chilly. It is therefore
advisable to bring warm clothing.
