Kimberley Big Hole

What We Offer

The Old Town

The Old Town brings the New Rush era to life, where the desperate, the hopeful and the determined flocked to the town of Kimberley to seek their fortunes.

In the the Old Town you'll discover period buildings that have been preserved or restored to their original glory including a church built in Europe and shipped to Kimberley, Barney Barnato's Boxing Academy, the diggers' tavern, an authentic diggers' sleeping quarters and the De Beers railway coach, used by Cecil John Rhodes to commute between Cape Town and Kimberley.

The Australian Arms guesthouse

During its heyday, the Australian Arms was one of the most popular drinking places in Kimberley. Dating back to the 19th Century it has been renovated and converted into a guesthouse offering 4 star accommodation. There are 13 luxury and themed rooms with an Elizabethan ambience. The guest house also boasts an old world pub dating back to the early 1870s.

The Occidental Bar

The Occidental Bar is an exact recreation of the original Market Square Occidental Bar of the early 1880s. Lovers of sport can view international and local tournaments on the big screen. Other features include an antique Caledonian Soda Fountain (1880) and the original Victorian furniture.
