The Old Town
The Old Town brings the New Rush era to life, where the desperate,
the hopeful and the determined flocked to the town of Kimberley to seek
their fortunes.
In the the Old Town you'll discover period buildings that have been
preserved or restored to their original glory including a church built
in Europe and shipped to Kimberley, Barney Barnato's Boxing Academy,
the diggers' tavern, an authentic diggers' sleeping quarters and the
De Beers railway coach, used by Cecil John Rhodes to commute between
Cape Town and Kimberley.
The Australian Arms guesthouse
During its heyday, the Australian Arms was one of the most popular
drinking places in Kimberley. Dating back to the 19th Century it has
been renovated and converted into a guesthouse offering 4 star accommodation.
There are 13 luxury and themed rooms with an Elizabethan ambience. The
guest house also boasts an old world pub dating back to the early 1870s.
The Occidental Bar
The Occidental Bar is an exact recreation of the original Market Square
Occidental Bar of the early 1880s. Lovers of sport can view international
and local tournaments on the big screen. Other features include an antique
Caledonian Soda Fountain (1880) and the original Victorian furniture.
